- 1/2 teaspoon Ground pepper
- One Yellow onion, thinly sliced
- Four teaspoons canola oil (divided)
- Six slices provolone cheese
- Two Tablespoons Butter (softened)
- One teaspoon minced Garlic
- One tablespoon horseradish sauce
- Four tablespoons mayonnaise
- One baguette cut in half and sliced
Prime Rib Recipe Instructions:

Prepare The Ingredients
We all know that the first step in cooking any meal is the preparation phase.
To start your going to want to have your prime rib pre-cooked.
Whether it was cooked on a grill, smoker or oven it doesn't matter for this recipe, as long as it was cooked to your liking.
This means if you have any leftover prime rib from a previous meal, you'll be saving yourself some time with this recipe!
Cut your pre-cooked prime rib into thin strips, and well you are at it, go ahead and cut up your onion into thin pieces as well.

Next, you'll want to measure out your spices, oil, butter, garlic, horseradish sauce and mayonnaise to they are ready to go for the next steps!
Lastly, for preparation, all you will need to do is add two teaspoons of canola oil to a frying pan on medium heat and slice your baguette.
Cook The Onions
After your skillet is ready, go ahead and add your onions!
While the onions are cooking you'll want to stir them often assuring that you do not overcook them.
The goal is to achieve sweet caramelized onions, that burst with flavor in every bite.

If your sliced onions start to stick to your pan, you can deglaze them by adding a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar and stirring again.
Once your onions are done to your liking, transfer them into a bowl and set aside.
Add The Seasoning
Now it's time to season your thinly sliced prime rib!
Take your rib meat and place it onto a cutting board or large plate.

Grab your kosher salt and ground pepper and evenly add both onto your prime rib and let sit for a minute or two.
(Note: this step is optional if your prime rib was already seasoned with a dry rub or marinade)
Cook The Prime Rib
Now you're going to want to cook the star of the dish!
First, add the remaining two teaspoons of canola oil to your frying pan and bring it to medium-high heat.
Add your prime rib and cook until slightly browned, be sure not to overcook.

Once the rib is cooked to perfection, you can add your caramelized onions back into the pan, and bring the heat down to low, keeping everything warm without the risk of burn.
Divide the rib and onion mixture into two portions.
Melt The Cheese
It's time for the cheese!
Take out your six slices of provolone cheese and split it so each portion of rib gets three pieces of cheese.
While the prime rib is still on low heat, add the cheese evenly on top, so the cheese can get properly melted!

If you wish, feel free to add a lid on top of the pan and let sit for 3-5 minutes while the cheese infuses with the rest of the ingredients.
Once the cheese is melted to your preference, turn off your heating elements completely.
Assemble Your Prime Rib Sandwich
Finally, the moment we've all been waiting for... assembly!
Grab your sliced baguettes and open them up so the inside of the bread is facing up.
Combine the softened butter with the minced garlic in a bowl and spread an even coat of the garlic butter on one half of your sandwich.

Next, take the mayonnaise and spread an even layer on the other half of the baguettes.
Once you've added your condiments to the baguettes, take a clean spatula and scoop each portion of prime rib into the bread evenly, ensuring accurate serving sizes.
Now add your horseradish sauce evenly into each sandwich. And now there are only two more simple steps. Serve and enjoy!
Storing Leftover Prime Rib Sandwiches
If you don't finish your whole sandwich, don't worry because we have a solution!
A very simple way of storing a leftover prime rib sandwich is to tightly wrap it in aluminum foil and refrigerate it for up to 4 days!
The nice thing about this method is that you can reheat prime rib sandwiches easily in an oven or an air fryer.

We don't recommend freezing pre-made sandwiches such as our recipe here.
You can also place the leftover sandwiches into an airtight container for storage in the fridge.
